Baghdad Elevated Train project is a fundamental project that is planned to be, in coordination with other transportation projects, a vital solution for the traffic jams in Baghdad due to several reasons. BET project has currently a route of 21.5 km in length that extends from North-East Baghdad (Rusafa) reaching Tigris River then passing the river in parallel to the current Steel Bridge, what is showing the emergence of a new bridge over the river, then, in Karkh, it will be divided into two branches, to the North reaching Kadhimiya, and to the South, reaching the area close to the IRR Railway Station (Al-Alamriyah Station) ending by the Depot.
This project was awarded to the French firm, Alstom Transport SA, and the contract was signed on February 10, 2013 in Baghdad. The role of DIJLAH is to undertake all the soil investigation, topographic surveys in addition to draw utilities and infrastructures.
